Welcome to the site of the Campaign to Save Chorley A&E

Here you will find a wealth of information, and links to even more, regarding the people of Chorley and South Ribble's campaign for the FULL 24 hour / 7 day reinstatement of our Accident & Emergency Department.

The A&E Department was CLOSED completely on 18th April 2016, with less than five day's notice, due to 'Safety fears' over a shortage of middle-grade Doctors, and was replaced with an Urgent Care Centre (UCC).  Our continued peaceful (if, at times, a bit noisy) demonstrations at the entrances to the hospital grounds every Saturday morning, 10am-11am, and a well aimed NHS England report, led to the eventual partial re-opening of the Unit, on 18th January 2017, on a 12 hour basis (8am to 8pm), and supplemented by the GP-led UCC (Urgent Care Centre - non-Trauma), open 24/7 for minor injuries and ailments.  More detail can be found in the articles and links on this site.
